Isolation of Pasteurslla multocida from a Patient with Chronic Lacrimal Sac Infection

Abstract
Pasteurella multocida is a facultative anaerobic small gram-negative bacilli. P. multocida infection in man is rare and include localized, respiratory and systemic ones. The infection usually occurs after.animal contact. The authors isolated P. multocida together with Streptococcus pneumoniae from the pus specimens collected from lacrimal punctum after lacrimal sac massage in a chronic dacryocystitis patient. The P. multocida isolate showed typical cultural and biochemical characteristics. The isolate was susceptible to ampicillin, cefamandole, cephalothin, chloram
phenicol, erythoromycin, gentamicin, penicillin G, and tetracycline, but resistant to amikacin and tobramycin.
